Early last month, Liu De, Co-Founder and Vice-President of Xiaomi had confirmed the presence of a Xiaomi Mi SmartWatch at the launch of the Mi Max in China. He has also added that the Mi Smartwatch will debut sometime in the second half of 2016. While this doesn’t give much information regarding the exact launch date of the smartwatch; the CEO of Huami, the company which apparently manufactures the wearables for Xiaomi, including the iconic Mi Band, states that the Chinese brand will launch the Xiaomi Mi Smartwatch in September.
Xiaomi is rapidly expanding its product portfolio with unique electronic gadgets and it seems like the company is preparing yet another device for the near future. Xiaomi Mi SmartWatch has been in the news for a while now and the company’s VP Liu De has also confirmed its existence. An official launch date for the Mi Smartwatch has not been announced yet, but the company added a new smartwatch category the under smart devices section on their official website, hinting at an early release.

Technically, the upcoming Mi Smartwatch won’t be the first by Xiaomi as it recently launched the Mi Bunny Smartwatch for kids. The kid’s smartwatch cost ¥299 and is available only in China. Going by Xiaomi’s strategy, we can expect the Mi Smartwatch to be priced competitively.
The smartwatch will include an accelerometer, a barometer and a vibrator motor.
Sadly, the listing does not reveal anything about the wearable device, including its design, specs, or price. However, the design-part was revealed by a recently-leaked render (shown below).
A basic design sketch of the Mi smartwatch was leaked to show some key aspects of the external look. The company’s logo was seen at the top of the round dial and two physical buttons on the right side. The smartwatch would also feature a flat tire design like the first-gen Moto 360. But there are several other details to be confirmed such as its battery capacity, operating system and price.
