Western Digital (WD) has now launched a new ‘palm-sized’ SSD that is durable, easy to carry, and comes with USB Type-C support. Calling it the WD My Passport Portable SSD, the SSD is available in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB variants. Designed for content creators and tech enthusiasts, the new My Passport SSD combines exceptional speed and portability to manage massive files on the go.

The WD My Passport Portable SSD comes with password protection with built-in 256-bit AES hardware encryption. The company says the portable design takes care of heat management, and the drive is said to be shock-resistant as well. The My Passport SSD works with Mac and PCs and is compatible with USB Type-C and USB Type-A ports. It is also USB 3.1 Gen 2 compatible, and USB 3.0, 2.0 and USB-A compatible. Additionally, the SSD is tough enough to withstand a drop of up to 6.5 feet (1.98 meters), and it comes with WD Backup software that makes it easy to automatically back up high-capacity files to your drive or Dropbox cloud service account.

All of this can be purchased for $100 (roughly Rs. 6,500) if you purchase the 256GB SSD variant. The 512MB SSD is priced at $200 (roughly Rs. 12,900), and the 1TB SSD is priced at $400 (roughly Rs. 25,800) respectively.
