Reliance Jio made impact on Airtel and Idea

So called Reliance Jio which is not yet officialy launched to the public has created its mark in the telecom industry. Jio is widely expected to launch its 4G services in India within a month, and with plans eight times cheaper than what is on offer now with other telecom operators. Vodafone will soon dive into the water says rumor.

Just last week, Airtel has slashed its prices about 67% and now Idea Cellular jumped into the pool with price cut in 4G, 3G and 2G plans both for prepaid and postpaid subscribers. The price cuts are aimed at heavy internet users with data tariffs starting from Rs 349. Speaking of which, the Rs 349 pack now offers 2GB data as opposed to 1.5GB before. Similarly, the Rs 649 plan is now offering 5GB data (up from 3GB), while the Rs 990 plan offers 10GB data (up from 6.5GB).

Bharti Airtel said it has reduced pre-paid data tariffs on some of its pre-paid data recharge packs to offer up to 67% more data benefits to its customers in what is seen as a bid to attract and retain users ahead of Reliance Jio Infocomm’s impending launch.
