OnePlus finally unveils it’s most awaited smartphone which “OnePlus 2” which they also call the Flagship killer 2016. The company revealed the pricing of the Indian retail unit that is, Rs 24,999 for 64GB variant and Rs 22,999 for 16GB variant which be launched on a later date, also the smartphone will be sold exclusively via Amazon India on August 11.
OnePlus had already decided not to discontinue it’s previous flagship device “OnePlus One” and will continue to sell the same at Rs 18,999 and Rs 21,999 for the 16GB and 64GB variants respectively.
The OnePlus 2 packs a premium design complete with a magnesium aluminum alloy frame and a removable back cover that can be swapped with what OnePlus likes to calls “StyleSwap covers”.
As per the previous hints made by OnePlus, there is a USB Type-C port at the bottom, and an interesting slider button on the left, which the company calls ‘Alert Slider’. This button essentially lets users toggle between the kind of notifications you want at any particular moment. Up front, sitting under the screen is a home button with a fingerprint scanner integrated. OnePlus says that this is one of most advanced scanners out there, and is much faster than iPhones’ TouchID sensors.
As per the specifications, the OnePlus 2 features a full HD display rather than QHD. It has a 5.5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) In-Cell display, and is powered by a Snapdragon 810 v2.1 processor paired with 4GB of RAM. As per the previous hints OnePlus has worked closely with Qualcomm’s engineers to optimize the SoC for performance and also overcome its heating issues.
In the camera section, the OnePlus 2 features a 13-megapixel camera at the back with f/2.0 aperture, 4K video shooting capabilities, dual-LED flash, optical image stabilization (OIS), as well as laser autofocus similar to what we have seen on the LG G4. Up front, there is a 5-megapixel selfie camera.
The flagship also features 64GB internal storage, a 3,300mAh battery, and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots, LTE support on both SIM cards, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. On the software front, it runs on Android Lollipop-based Oxygen OS.
OnePlus planned to go for same invitation format which they used for the most successful OnePlus One.
