LG unveiled it’s flagship smartphone called the “LG G5” at the MWC 2016 event in Barcelona. The handset comes in the all metal design body which packs a Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 SoC, 4GB of RAM and dual cameras at the back.
The LG G5 also feature a unique modular design. There’s an expansion slot that that allows users to swap in modules such as batteries, camera module, Hi-Fi audio chip, smart controller and much more.
LG has done away with the power and volume buttons at the back, which we’ve seen in the G3 and G4. Instead, there is a dual-camera module with laser auto-focus and a fingerprint scanner located right below it.

As far as the Modular design is concerned, LG launched a couple of swappable modules for LG G5.
1. CAM Plus
This module can be attached to the battery. It is a separate camera module which offers a shutter, record, zoom and power button along with a comfortable grip. It also offers advanced controls such as exposure lock, auto-focus and others. Apart from this, it also includes a 1,200mAh battery to allow for longer shooting times.
2. Hi-Fi Plus
This is a Hi-Fi DAC audio player and is perfect for users who want to enjoy top-notch audio on their smartphone. It can also play high-definition audio files encoded in 32-bit at 384KHz.
3. 360 VR
This VR goggle that users to connect the G5 using a dedicated cable. It is designed to simulate the same experience as viewing a 130-inch TV from 2 meters away. Thanks to its foldable design, users can easily carry it anytime and anywhere they want. Weighing just 118g, it delivers a great pixel density of 693ppi. It is compatible with 360-degree videos, Google Carboard apps and images captured from LG 360 CAM.

4. LG 360 CAM
There’s also an LG 360 CAM which features two cameras of 13-megapixel resolution and wide angle view of 200-degrees. It comes with 4GB of internal storage with microSD card slot and 1,200mAh battery. It can also record 2K video and 5.1 surround channel recording with three microphones on board. Built in partnership with Google, users can upload photos taken from the 360 CAM directly to Google Street View and YouTube360.
As of now, LG hasn’t announced the price and availability of the LG G5 and the accessory modules.
