Huawei has announced a smartwatch at a press conference at MWC, Barcelona, the “Huawei Watch 2“. Huawei has announced two watches and the second one is called the “Huawei Watch 2 Classic”. Both the smartwatches run on the Android Wear 2.0 operating system from Google.
The Watch 2 features a ‘sportier’ look with rubber bands. They come with cellular connectivity that allows users to make and receive phone calls using a built-in e-SIM card. A nano SIM slot is present on the bottom of the smartwatch. The smartwatch has stainless steel back, heart rate sensor along with charging port on the back and NFC for Android Pay.
The Watch 2 Classic sports a stainless steel bezel and leather straps, giving it a more stylish look. Both the smartwatches offer real-time heart rate zone information, including dynamic heart rate monitoring and zone indicators. Huawei Watch 2 has a 1.2-inch circular display and the thickness is about 12.6mm. These watches come with microphone and speakers, and the battery capacity offered in the Huawei Watch 2 is 420 mAh, which the company claims to offer about two days of usage.
Huawei has included a new low-power Watch Mode that is said to disable most of the functions and have only the watch and step-counter active, and this will give the watch about 25 days of life before asking for charging again. The Huawei Watch 2 and Watch 2 Classic have IP68 water resistance.
With one click on the crown, Huawei Watch 2 opens the workout App to start training in an instant. Quick start running modes “fat-burning run” and “cardio run” allow runners to start quickly and the watch will guide your speed to stay in the correct heart rate zone. Running with Huawei Watch 2 enables you to get real-time guidance including notifications on distance, target completion status and racing heart warning and based on calculated workout plans.
Huawei Watch 2 can also dynamically notify you to either accelerate or decelerate to guide you through every stage of your run. With the support of Watch 2 ’s GPS and heart rate detection system, it measures your VO2max after each run. After a valid run, the watch automatically generates a report that advises on recovery time and training effects.
With a new smart OS and intuitive controls, the Huawei Watch 2 is a personal assistant that brings convenience without infringing on daily life. Running on the new Android Wear 2.0, the on-watch Google Play Store allows both iOS and Android users to benefit from a vast library of compatible applications.
